In 1968 Brian May and Tim Straffel, both students at London's Imperial College, decided they wanted to form a group. Brian placed an advertisement on the college notice board for a "Ginger Baker Type" drummer and a young medical student called Roger Taylor auditioned, and got the job. They called the group SMILE. Smile was signed to Mercury Records in 1969 and had their first studio experience at Trident Studios that same year. Sadly, in1970, Smile disbanded since nothing seemed to be happening for them. Tim went off and joined a band called Humpy Bong. Freddy left his band, Wreckage, and joined up with Brian and Roger. They changed their name to QUEEN and in 1971 added bassist John Deacon to the lineup. They signed with Trident and EMI in 1973 and released their first album "Queen". They then toured as support for Mott The Hoople in '73 and in the U.S. in '74, the same year they released "Queen II". They released their next album in November of '74 and "SHEER HEART ATTACK" became a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic launching Queen into the beginning of super-stardom!
Queen, of course, went on to become one of the biggest music acts in worldwide history releasing many, many more albums and singles that now have gone down in history as rock anthems. From "We Are The Champions", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" to "We Will Rock You", Queen continued to pump out worldwide hits and perform before sold out crowds until it came to a screeching halt when Freddie Mercury contracted and died of aids in November of '91.
In reverent homage and with incredible re-creation, MAJESTY takes Queen fans back to a time that can never happen again ..... a live performance of Queen with authentic looks, costumIng, moves and, of course, that amazing sound and harmonies as close to the original that you won't believe that this can actually be happening!!
