Tom has been a full-time, professional entertainer since age 17. After high school, he performed as lead vocalist with a number of cover bands in clubs from Boston to Key West.
Years of entertaining audiences with hits of national acts, combined with his natural talent for mimicry, led Tom to a career as a vocal impressionist. As Tom Sadge, Singing DJ, Tom played over 300 dates per year (5000+ in all) from 1982-1997. Tom delighted audiences with his uncanny vocal impressions of Neil Diamond, Elvis, Englebert, and many other singing and speaking voices.
During this time, Tom opened for national acts (Dion and the Belmonts, Beatlemania), did lead vocals on parody CDs, co-hosted live radio simulcasts, executed voice-overs and commercials on both TV and radio, and had his career highlighted by an NBC affiliate.
Other honors include being voted "Best Entertainer" by the readers of the Citizens' Voice Newspaper, as well as being spotlighted in numerous newspaper interviews.
Tom has released a single, "Love Songs", and performed parody vocals of Neil Diamond, Elvis, and other character and singing voices on two different CDs released by popular disc jockey Jeff Walker of WKRZ, 98.5FM...one of the East Coast's largest radio stations. The most recent CD, "Bad Boys", was a popular seller during the Christmas 1998 season.
Neil Diamond has long been Tom's favorite vocal impression and an audience favorite. So, after many months of research, Tom debuted his Neil Diamond impersonation in London, Ontario in late 1997 at the University of Western Ontario's Gordon Thompson Complex. Other dates followed, including an appearance in Nashville and opening along with Legends Alive, for popular comedian Jackie Mason.
Tom was interviewed twice by the late Sonny Schwartz of the popular "Dateline: Atlantic Show". During the interviews, in January and March 1998, Sonny challenged listeners to tell the difference between Tom's voice and the real Neil Diamond. (Other radio stations have had Tom participate in similar escapades.)
During the summer of 1998, Tom had the honor of being the only American to tour with "Legends Alive", Canada's outstanding troupe of look-and-sound alike celebrity impersonators, from May - June. During thos five weeks, Tom performed in every major city across Canada to audience of up to 7000. Audiences cheered widly as Tom took the stage to perform his very authentic impersonation of Neil Diamond.
In December, 1998, Tom entertained over 1000 attendees at a banquet for Canada 3000 AIRLINE. On New Years eve, 98-99, Tom entertained at CHUM Radio's Bash held at the Western Harbour Castle in Toronto. Over 2500 party goers cheered and swayed enthusiastically to Sweet Caroline as they watched Tom perform his uncanny Neil Diamond impersonation...complete with red sequinned shirt that features over 50,000 shimmering, hand sewn, beads.
On February 6th, 1999, Tom appeared with Engelbert Humperdinck (along with comedian John Byner) in Toronto at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre. The appearance was a great success, and Engelbert and his wife, Patricia, invited Tom to spend the rest of the evening in Engelbert's dressing room as they entertained friends, family and invited guests.
During the month of June, 1999, Tom completed his second Canadian tour with the renowned group of impersonators, "Legends Alive". The group played more than a dozen of Canada's largest arenas to crowds that numbered in the thousands. Sweeping across the Canadian provinces to the west, the group then ventured up to the Yukon to play to sold out crowds!
Tom Sadge plays at numerous private functions and is much in demand for corporate affairs.
His most recent public performance was on October 17, 1999 in Bayonne, NJ. Tom entertained a sold out show at the Hi Hat Grand Ballroom. A standing ovation and encore followed the performance!
During the week of October 19, 1999 Tom's voice will be featured on mega-station WKRZ. Tom's Neil Diamond voice as well as an interview, will be aired by popular drive-time DJ "Jumpin' Jeff Walker" as a promotion for the upcoming concert (Dec. 12, 1999) by Neil Diamond at the brand new Civic Arena in Wilkes-Barre.
Tom will be featured in the October 22, 1999 issue of BACK STAGE!!
Tom comments: "No one can sing exactly or look exactly like Neil Diamond except the great legend himself. But, if for a few fleeting moments, for a few magical seconds, I can fool the audience into thinking they are watching the real Neil...then all the hard work, practice and persistence has been worth it."
