Performing on stage has been something of a dream of Nickie Stevens' ever since she was a little girl watching the children in 'The Sound Of Music.' Her aunt Muriel, a former opera and movie star who lived in Rio, inspired her to continue her dream.
When Nicole was 17, she began playing guitar and writing her own music. It was then that she was told that she sounded so much like Stevie Nicks. Friends encouraged her to start up a band as a tribute to Stevie, but it wasn't until years later that she was able to do so.
Finally in 1995, she put together her own Fleetwood Mac and Heart tribute, Miarge (Chicago based). Being so inspired by the music of Stevie Nicks and the Wilson sisters, she was finally able to perform the music she loved as she fronted the band singing Stevie's timeless songs , along with her friend who sang Heart. One of the highlights of that time was when the band opened for Paul Rogers with Howard Leese (Heart's lead guitarist). Howard came on stage and watched the band perform 'Magic Man.' He spent a lot of time with the band afterwards and it was very rewarding for all of them. Another highlight was performing with Jim Peterik (Ides of March / Survivor). "Jim is one of the most talented people in the music industry as well as a genuinely nice person, and we were lucky to have more opportunities to join him at many benefits thereafter." Nickie states.
"The success of my former tribute should be credited to bassist/guitarist Danny Buss, who had worked nationally with Canadian guitarist Tony Springer (alias Wild-T, ex David Bowie guitarist on Black Noise White Tie)." His band backed up Deep Purple, Yngwie Malnsteen, Blue Oyster Cult, Nazareth, Rik Emmett, 38 Special, April Wine, and Marshall Tucker during 1996. After the tour, Danny was living in Chicago and happened to stumble upon Nickie's band. He told her that the band would go a lot farther if they replaced certain members. Danny's orchestration and transformation of the band catapulted them into being one of the top tribute bands in the Midwest, opening for acts such as Cheap Trick, Paul Togers & Howard Leese, Mark Farner (Grand Funk), Chuck Negron (3 Dog Night), Kansas, Starship, Joan Jett and Jim Peterik. They played venues such as The Vic Theatre in Chicago, Hawthorne Racetrack, White Sox Park, and the World Music Theatre D.A.R.E. Fest, Chicago's Navy Pier, as well as many clubs and festivals in the Midwest.
"Performing the music of Stevie Nicks, I concentrate on capturing this legendary songstress and queen of rock not only vocally, but also visually. I give an audience my best high energy rock & roll performance that promises their return to future shows." The band covers Fleetwood Mac hits of all three members: Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, and Lindsay Buckingham.
