A Tribute To The Beatles

BACKBEAT was formed in 1992 by the producers of Paramount Studios HARD COPY for a segment of the highly rated "I ELVIS" television mini-series.

Since their inception, BACKBEAT have become one of the country's HOTTEST entertainment tribute acts! The members of BACKBEAT are all accomplished musicians/actors & members of both actors and musicians unions. With an absolutely UNCANNY resemblance to the Beatles, & as fantastic sound-a-likes, their tribute is unlike any other!

Reliving all eras of the Beatles' vast career (including the early "Hamburg" Beatles) is accomplished through authentic 60's clothing, haircuts (their own hair) and exact replicas of the Beatles' musical instruments and equipment. BACKBEAT members own copies of every single guitar used (worth over $50,000) by the Fab Four during their career.

BACKBEAT recreates the energy, excitement, and fun of the Fab Four that will win over any cynic or most discriminating Beatles fan! Proof is in the immense popularity in Southern California's British night pubs, where BACKBEAT has been extremely well received by native Brits. Their shows have been attended by Beatle fans from all over the world. (Japan, Australia, Europe, and Latin America..to name a few)!

Fans of BACKBEAT include George Harrison's sister, Louise Harrison, John Lennon's ex-wife, Cynthia Lennon, and Alan White (former drummer of John Lennon's "Plastic Ono" band).

The BACKBEAT show covers the Beatles material from 1960 to 1970.

All BackBeat sets include complete costume changes and make-up (beards, mustaches, etc.) to help reflect the evolution of the Beatles' career. The era changes are accomplished by incorporating the use of authentic replicas of musical instruments and equipment used by the Beatles. No wigs are used until the "Abbey Road" set.
All sets are 45 minutes in length. Regular BackBeat show is 3 sets. "Silver Beatles (Hamburg)" set performed only upon request or depending on venue.

ACT I - SILVER BEATLES (1960 - 1962)

Thsi act showcases the Beatles before they became the Beatles (1960 HAMBURG, GERMANY). Outfitted in black leather with slicked-back "Elvis" hair, the BackBeat members perform with all the reckless, wild abandon and energy of the early Beatles. (NOTE: BackBeat took it's name from the 1994 movie "Backbeat" depicting this era.) The Hamburg set is extremely popular among their audiences. Songs performed include hits from artists such as ELVIS PRESLEY, CHUCK BERRY, BUDDY HOLLY and LITTLE RICHARD - all early Beatle influences. With full beard, Ringo Starr of "The Hurricanes" sits in for the ailing Pete Best.

Guitars used by BackBeat include a 1955 Gretsch Duo Jet, a 1959 blonde Rickenbacker and a 1960 Hofner Bass, backed by an original set of Ludwig drums.

Songs performed include: "SOLDIER OF LOVE", "CRY FOR A SHADOW", and "PLEASE MR. POSTMAN".

ACT II - BEATLEMANIA! (1963 - 1965)

The rise of the Beatles (Usually performed in 2 sets). BackBeat perform in full black suits and ties with "Beatle" haircuts - NO WIGS. The group recreates the fun filled energy and pure excitement that won the Beatles the hearts of millionsaround the world. Once again, with all the original equipment, BackBeat perform all the early Beatles' hits.

Guitars used include a 1963 Lennon black and white Rickenbacker, a 1963 Gretsch Country Gentleman, a 12 string 360 Rickenbacker, a Gibson J160E, a Hofner Beatle Bass, backed by a set of original Ludwig drums.

Songs performed include: "ALL MY LOVING", "TWIST AND SHOUT", "SHE LOVES YOU", "ACT NATURALLY", DIZZY MISS LIZZY", and hits from "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" and"HELP".

ACT III - SGT. PEPPER (1966 - 1968)

Celebrating the historic 1967 "Summer of Love", BackBeat performs the Sgt. Pepper set wearing exact full color military replica costumes from the famous album cover (The costumes were made and tailored by a seamstress from Paramount Studios' wardrobe/costume department). All BackBeat members wear the trademark Beatles moustaches, with Peter George donning the famous John Lennon round glasses. The Sgt. Pepper set is a favorite among all age groups!

Guitars used include a 1966 Epiphone Casino, a 12 string Fender Acoustic, a 4001 Rickenbacker Bass and a 1966 Fender Stratocaster, backed by an originalset of Ludwig drums.

Songs performed include: "SGT. PEPPER", "GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE" and "WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS". There is also a solo showcase with Frank Mendonca singing "YESTERDAY" playing a 1964 Texan Acoustic.

ACT IV - ABBEY ROAD (1968 - 1970)

Also known as the "hippie" Beatles era, BackBeat performs songs from the famous "White Album" and "Abbey Road" periods with integrity and percision. The fourth set presents some of the Beatles finest work. Pete and Daniel don long hair wigs for this portion of the show.

Guitars include a white Lennon Epiphone, a 1969 Fender Rosewood Telecaster and a 1968 wine Les Paul backed by a set of original Ludwig drums.

Songs performed include: "SOMETHING", "HEY JUDE", REVOLUTION", "BACK IN THE USSR", and "TAXMAN".
